This committee is composed of volunteers who help set policy, practices and general operational guidelines for the running of the concession stands.
Volunteers on this committee provide input and feedback on things like price changes (yearly or as needed), purchasing of new equipment (e.g., roasters, tables, freezers, warmers), expansion or contraction of menu offerings, and more.
Is a member of and reports to the Concessions Committee.
Is responsible for coordinating the work to be done in the respective stand (home or visitor) on the day of the event.
At the present time, many of you may recognize Jeff and Jill in these roles.
Is the top-level resource responsible for running the stand at the event on the day of the event.
Is knowledgeable in all operations related to running the concession stand. If there are any unexpected operational questions or decisions to be made, this person has the final say on the matter at that event.
Coordinates clean-up efforts at the end of the event.
All of the following positions will:
Report to the Site Coordinator on the day of the event (unless otherwise delegated by the Site Coordinator).
Assist with assigned clean-up tasks (e.g., taking out trash, wiping down counters, re-stocking, washing dishes & coolers) at end of event as assigned by Site Coordinator or their delegate.
Is entitled to a brief training and full support for the assigned role at the event, as well as discounted food purchases for themselves during the event (a small token of our appreciation)
Is responsible for taking orders from Customers at the front window and ensuring their assigned Runner hears the order.
Is responsible for processing financial transactions for Customer orders (cash and/or credit cards).
Is ideally a bit of an extrovert/’people person’ who is personable and good with customer service. This person is the primary volunteer with opportunities to create positive experiences with customers.
Is responsible for obnoxiously ringing the cowbell with sincere appreciation when we receive a tip.
Is responsible for ‘running’ back and forth between the Cashier and Food Prep areas to collect the items ordered by the Customer (e.g., sodas/pop, hot dogs, pretzels, frozen treats, hot drinks).
Is responsible for placing all ordered items on the counter for the Cashier to double-check before giving items to the Customer.
Should not be handling financial transactions
Prepares food in the back of the concession stand as assigned by the Site Coordinator. Examples of items prepared and served:
Popcorn (includes boxing it up)
Hot dogs (includes wrapping them in foil)
Pizza slices
Bratwurst, Meatball Subs, or Chicken Sandwiches (as applicable to the current menu)
Nachos
Hot Pretzels
Hot Chocolate and Coffee
Hands prepared food to the Runner when called upon.
Preferred volunteers for the concession stand are adults (parents/family of students & alumni).
Students are not typically allowed to work concessions, but can be allowed as exceptions with prior approval from the Site Coordinator.
Student volunteers are typically only approved when there are not enough adults to fill all positions
Student volunteers must be responsible individuals who are able to receive and follow instructions from the Site Coordinator (or other adult delegated by the Site Coordinator)
Student volunteers are to be 8th grade or older
Student volunteers should not sign up more than 24 hours before an event.
Student volunteers must sign up in the Sign-Up-Genius, and label themselves as a student in the comments section.
Unless otherwise posted, no more than 2 student volunteers per event.
Students are NEVER allowed to be cashiers nor handle any money/financial transactions.
